Barack Obama’s India visit: US Secret Service to deploy surveillance satellites

obamaNEW DELHI: The US Secret Service is leaving nothing to chance as they prepare a foolproof security mechanism for President Barack Obama during his visit to India later this month.The advance team of the Secret Service is already in India and is working in tandem with Indian security agencies to workout security arrangements across the venues on President’s itinerary.

Obama is the first US President to be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day parade on January 26.

As per reports, the Secret Service will position surveillance satellites to track each and every movement of the President. The surveillance will be highest when Obama will travel down the Rajpath and be seated in the VVIP enclosure along with President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Besides dozens of Secret Service agents, the US will also be flowing in teams of US Marines and other special forces to provide fool-proof security to the President. A Roof Team – specialists in providing sniper cover from roof tops and a dog squad is also said to be part of the security details being put in place by US authorities.

The US forces will provide close proximity security to the President while NSG commandos will form the second layer and the third – outer- layer will be managed by the Delhi Police.
