Balwinder, Jaspreet win CRPF’s marathon
JAMMU: Balwinder Singh from Neha Public School, Mishriwala, Jammu and Jaspreet Kaur from KV Sanjuwan, Jammu won first prize in boys and girls category respectively in marathon ‘Run for Unity’, organised by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as a part of its Diamond Jubilee Year.
The Marathan, in which about 500 students of various schools took part, was flagged off from Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
Special DG, CRPF, J and K Zone, R.C Tayal was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The run for boys was flagged off by Dr. H.L Raskaran, IG (Medical), CRPF, Composite Hospital, Jammu and for girls by Rozy Dhar, President Regional CWA, CRPF, Jammu Sector.
The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to young champions and other winners. He also felicitated the specially-abled children.
The winners who stood first and second were given cash prizes of Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 5000 with T. Shirt and Cap respectively.
Third, fourth, fifth and sixth cash prizes worth Rs. 4,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 each were also given to them.
Four consolation cash prizes were also given to the participants in each category of boys and girls.
Besides, Commendation Certificates were also given to all the participants.
Twenty specially-abled children from Red Cross Society were also invited on the occasion and out of them two were felicitated with special cash prizes worth Rs. 500 each and mementos. A specially-abled girl who had won 100 mtrs run at Ajmer was also felicitated with special prize of Rs. 500 and a memento.
The winner in boys category: Balwinder Singh (Neha Public School, Mishriwala, Jammu)-first, Rajinder Paul (Government Higher Secondary School, Buddhi, Jammu) -second while Hardil Aziz (KB Public Higher Secondary School, Jammu–third.
Girls category: Jaspreet Kaur from KV Sanjuwan, Jammu–first, Anjli Choudhary (Shri Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, Ramgarh, Jammu) and Tulsi Pandey (Government Girl Higher Secondary School, Kachi Chawni, Jammu) clinched second and third prize respectively.
IG Jammu Sector, Kuldeep Dhar gave away mementos to chief guest and other dignitaries.
Indian Idol runner-up in junior category, Master Anmol Jaiswal and his sister, who was adjudged as Singer of Punjab by PTC channel were also felicitated.
The other partners in the CRPF unity run were Indian Oil Corporation Limited, State Bank of India, Vodafone, Big 92.7 FM and J and K Police.
S.S. Dogra, DIGP, GC, CRPF Kootah; Praveen Kumar Sharma, DIGP, CRPF, Jammu Range; Ravindra Singh Rautela, DIGP, CRPF, Jammu Sector HQ and Narender Singh, DIG (Ops), CRPF, Jammu North were also present.
SSP, Jammu, Uttam Chand, Divisional Manager, IOC, Jammu, Vijay Kumar Garg, Area Manager, Vodafone, Jammu, Sunny Mangotra and Surpal Jaiswal were the special guests.
Chief Guest highlighted the role of CRPF during rescue and relief operations for flood affected people of Jammu and Kashmir. He also blessed and encouraged the children and wished them a bright future.
