JAMMU: The famous theatre personality from Jammu, Balwant Thakur visited KC Sports Club on Tuesday to acquaint himself of its unique nature and also to observe Shiamak Davar Dance Academy in action.
KC Sports Club turned partially operational from August this year and has already opened its portals to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of next year.
The mission of the Club is to provide the people of J and K an indoor sporting and recreational facility that matches with the best in the contemporary world.
Located next to KC Public School, the complex is spread over three double-height floors covering an air-controlled area of about 60,000 SQ ft.
The Club offers indoor spaces for all major games such as cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, squash and handball.
Other fitness and recreational activities include martial arts, creative dancing, fencing, rock climbing, yoga and theatre. The ground floor houses a vast state-of-the-art Gym fitted with the latest equipment imported from the US, a 20 Meter all-weather indoor swimming pool and 2 spacious halls for fitness and recreational activities.
Balwant Thakur took a guided tour of the complex and was impressed with all functional spaces such as the Gym, the activity halls and the cricket hall.
He was informed of the fact that Shiamak Davar Dance Academy turned operational in the Club a week ago and that a special Winter Funk dance workshop is scheduled shortly that would offer people of all ages from four years onward an opportunity to learn and train in their favourite dance style, learn the finer nuances of dance movement and gain a wholesome perspective on performing arts. The classes would give them an opportunity to learn dance and perform on stage.
