Bal Swachhta Week kick started by ICDS

JAMMU: State Mission Directorate ICDS on Friday launched the celebration of Bal Swachhta Week wherein various activities in Anganwadi Centres to be organised in the field of cleanliness.
As per the guidelines of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, this year the ICDS Week from 14th to 19th November, 2014 is celebrated as Bal Swachhta Week.
On the inaugural day, Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare M.S Rather was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Rather informed that in the state more than 30,000 centers celebrating Bal Swachhta Week involving more than 60,000 workers of the ICDS project.
Rather also appreciated the cultural items presented by various ICDS projects. He also stressed upon Anganwadi Centers for maintaining cleanliness.
On the occasion, Secretary Social Welfare also launched the official Website (www.dpoicdsjmu.org) of District Programme Officer (DPO) Jammu. DPO Jammu Kanta Devi has taken lead in developing the website of the district. It was informed by the Secretary that all the districts including State Mission Director and Deputy Directors ICDS will also develop similar website for their respective offices.
During the week-long celebrations, various activities about cleanliness programme would be organized in more than 30,000 Anganwari Centers in the State. The main objective of the celebration is to spread awareness among children and general masses about the importance of Cleanliness.
Vote of thanks was presented by Joint Director ICDS Pran Singh who appreciated the role of various agencies involved to make a programme a successful.
