Bail denied in drug smuggling case

JAMMU: The 1st Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu M. A Chowdhary on Monday rejected the bail application of 21-year-old Rajinder Singh, involved in drug smuggling case.
The police had caught the accused with 15 kg Bukhi and booked him under NDPS Act.
After hearing Additional Public Prosecutor Ajay Singh Manhas, the Court observed that drug abuse has became a major problem of the society over the years. The cases against drug peddlers indicate interstate drug rackets targeting school kids as well.
The Court further observed that the illicit drugs have a high addiction potential and there is gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on these drugs both physically and psychologically. The compulsive drug seeking and use, on addiction, causes chronic, brain disease changing the brain, its structure and how it works.
The deadly menace, a major problem of the society, requires to be checked through strengthening the reinforcement. With these observations, the Court rejected the bail application of the accused.
