Azad, Wani congratulate Chain Singh
JAMMU: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Former Chief Minister J and K, Ghulam Nabi Azad and R&B Minister Abdul Majid Wani have congratulated Chain Singh for winning a bronze medal for the country in the ongoing Asian Games being held in South Korea.
Chain Singh won a bronze medal in 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men’s Finals, even as India narrowly missed out on a third-place finish in men’s team event of the Asian Games in Incheon on Saturday.
Hailing the spectacular success of Chain Singh, Azad said that his achievement has made people of Chenab Valley, J and K State as well as the country proud and that it will serve as an inspiration for the younger generation of the State, especially the youth of backward and difficult Chenab Valley region.
Feeling highly elated by the spectacular success of Chain Singh, who hails from his native area in District Doda, Azad wished him many more successes in the coming days.
Wani said that by winning a medal in Asian games, the son of the soil from Doda District has created a history and is now a source of inspiration not only for energetic youth from this backward region but also youth of the State. Wani assured a great intervention by the government for creating the best possible sports infrastructural facilities in the State.
Chain Singh won a bronze medal in 50m rifle 3 positions men’s finals, even as India narrowly missed out on a third-place finish in men’s team event of the Asian Games here on Saturday.
Singh shot a total of 441.7 points to finish behind two Chinese shooters – Cao Yifei and Zhu Qinan – who bagged the first and second positions with 455.5 and 455.2 points to their credit, respectively.
While Singh had entered the finals after finishing seventh in the qualification round, his more fancied compatriots, Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajput had failed to make the final cut, ending on 12th and 15th spots, respectively in the qualifiers.
