Azad to head JK Cong Poll Campaign panel

NEW DELHI: Congress High Command on Friday appointed former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chairman of the party’s Election Campaign Committee in Jammu and Kashmir.
Credited with vast experience in campaigning across the country in successive elections, the High Command is banking upon Azad to play his crucial role in the upcoming elections which the party is fighting alone. He has toured almost entire state in recent months prior to announcement of the poll schedule and has personal feel of voters’ mood. He was the visible face of Congress during floods in Kashmir and has been maintaining personal rapport with grass roots level functionaries in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions.
Azad will be advising the High Command about star campaigners to be deployed to various areas during phased elections beginning 25th of November, sources privy to Congress told STATE TIMES.
