Avoid use of polythene bags: Dy CM

JAMMU: To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and 2nd anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh launched Cleanliness Drive in Gandhi Nagar. The motive of the drive was to spread awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness to make the city clean and green.
Dr Singh administered oath to the people present and appealed for their active participation in the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission. He also urged them to devote at least 100 hours in a year for achieving the goal of ”Clean India Mission”. He appealed to the people to avoid use of polythene bags and to install dustbins in their areas for maintaining proper sanitation. He also asked them to sensitize others and involve them in the drive for making Clean India Mission successful.
This programme was part of Swachh Bharat Week under which drives and various programmes were organised by Jammu Municipal Corporation at various places in the city. Members of Apsra Road Traders Association and shopkeepers also participated in the drive. Commissioner JMC Manmohan Singh, Joint Commissioner R.S Jamwal, Neeraj Gupta, Chief Accounts Officer, Ranjit Singh Secretary JMC, Kushal Chand, Joint Commissioner (W), Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, senior officers of JMC, staff of Health and Sanitation Wing of JMC and residents were also present on the occasion.
