NOWSHERA: Avinash’s unbeaten knock of 116 runs guided Dahneka Cricket Club to register five-wicket win against BCC in the ongoing Inter-club Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, organised by Rajouri Police at Sports Stadium Nowshera, here on Wednesday.
Earlier, Dahneka Cricket Club won the toss and opted to ball first.
BCC, batting first, made a good start as openers put 125 runs together in seven overs. BCC scored 212 for the loss of three wickets in allotted 15 overs. Ashu was the top scorer with 78 runs while Bandu and Lucky added 42 and 40 runs respectively to the total. Ajay was the most successful bowler for DCC who claimed two wickets.
Chasing target, DCC openers also gave a good start putting 100 runs partnership in six overs. Avinash played an unbeaten knock of 116 runs with the help of 12 sixes and eight fours while Sandeep contributed 40 runs. DCC achieved the target in 12.3 overs for the loss of five wickets. Lucky and Mustafa picked two wickets each for BCC.
Avinash was declared Man of the Match for his match winning inning.
Today’s match was officiated by Kuldeep Singh and Romy Choudhary while Pankaj maintained the score.
Talking to media persons, veteran cricketer Rakesh Choudhary said he has not seen such a classical batting in this rural area which was played by Avinash.He said, “I am sure Avinash can represent J&K team at national level.”
