Asstt Engineer RDD lands in ACB’s net, caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 2,000

SRINAGAR: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has nabbed one Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, son of Habibullah, resident of Mirdanter, Anantnag, working as Assistant Engineer in Rural Development Department (REW), Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2000 for releasing a payment.
As per an official spokesperson, the ACB received a complaint, wherein it was alleged that one Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, Assistant Engineer, Rural Development Department (REW), Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama is demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 for releasing a CDR amounting to Rs 7,000. “The complainant told that he is a contractor and aforesaid CDR was deposited by him for works titled ‘Improvement of walling/ Gate around Panchayat Ghar at Dangerpora Padgampora, Pulwama’. As contents of complaint disclosed demand of bribe by alleged accused public servant namely Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, Assistant Engineer, Rural Development Department (REW), Sub-Division Awantipora, Pulwama, FIR No 13/2022 was registered at Police Station ACB Anantnag and investigations started,” the official added. He further informed that a trap team constituted, which caught the accused official red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 from complainant. He was arrested on the spot and bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses, said official, adding that further investigation is going on.
