Asiya dismayed over poor sanitation in GB Pant Hospital

SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asia Naqash last night conducted surprise check of health facilities at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital Rainawari and GP Pant Paediatric Hospital, Sonawar.

The minister during her visit to Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital took stock of the medicare facilities being provided to the patients. She inspected various wards of the hospital and interacted with the patients and their attendants besides enquiring about the medicare facilities being provided by the hospital authorities to them. She also inspected Gynaecology ward, emergency ward and blood bank at the hospitals.

Naqash highlighted the importance of mother and baby care and said that Asha and Anganwari workers have to play important role in creating awareness among the people about the healthcare facilities available under different schemes including NRHM.

On the occasion, the Medical Superintendent of Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital, Dr Nazir Ahmad briefed the Minister about the facilities being given to the patients by the hospital administration. She stressed upon the doctors and paramedical staff to work with zeal and dedication.

The Minister also visited G B Pant Hospital Sonawar and inspected the wards and other facilities. She interacted with the attendants of the paediatric patients and got brief about the facilities being extended to them. She was informed by the attendants about the poor sanitation and cleanliness of the hospital.

Taking serious note of it, the minister asked the concerned authorities to immediately depute a team of sweepers to sanitize the toilets, wards and other areas in and around the hospital. She stressed for regular cleanliness of the wards and corridors besides maintaining proper sanitation of the hospital.

The minister asked the authorities of these health institutions to equip the hospitals with latest diagnostic facilities and other equipments to ensure availability of all medicare facilities to the patients within the hospital.
