Ashiq Bukhari rejoins as DIG today

SRINAGAR: Former police officer, Syed Aashiq Hussain Bukhari, who retired as Senior Superintendent of Police has formally rejoined today in the Home Department as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) following the Union Home Ministry’s nod.
Talking to a Srinagar based news agency, Bukhari said that in Jammu he formally joined back in the police department as DIG. “I will be posted soon,” he said.
Bukhari had superannuated as KPS officer on 31st January, 2014, on attaining 58 years of age, IPS induction will give him two more years of service as DIG, and thus he will retire on 31st of this month.
Earlier, Union Home Ministry has approved his induction in IPS cadre after the High Court has declared him as SP on a substantive position from the day he had officiated as SP Budgam.
Following the judgment, state Home Department approached Union Public Service Commission with the plea that Bukhari may be inducted into IPS with the seniority granted to him by the court and his year of allotment of IPS may be fixed as 2000.
The home ministry accepted his induction as the state Home Department did not move an appeal against him. (KNS)
