SRINAGAR: Sub Registrar Srinagar has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Kamal Rohmetra, son of late Sahdev Rohmetra, editor-printer-publisher of Daily Excelsior, Jammu in a case filed by Director General ISM J&K.
The Judge has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police to arrest and produce Kamal Rohmetra before the court on 18th of March, 2016.
The directions came on a complaint filed by Director General of ISM Dr.Kabir Dar, through Advocate Irfan before Chief Judicial Magistrate Class-1 Srinagar for publishing a derogatory news report in October, 2015, not based on facts, against him. The CJM, Srinagar forwarded the case to Sub Registrar for further proceedings. After recording the statement of two witnesses, the court took the cognizance and issued summons to Kamal Rohmetra under Section 499 RPC, directing his appearance in the court.
To stall the action against him, Kamal Rohmetra approached the High Court and filed o.w.p. under Section 226 for relief, but failed in his attempt, as Adv Irfan put forth his forceful pleadings before the court as a result of which Rohmetra could not get any relief.
Taking exception to non appearance of Kamal Rohmetra in the court, despite issuance of summons on 24th of February, 2016, the Sub Registrar issued nonbailable warrants of arrest and directed the Sr. Superintendent of Police, Jammu to produce Kamal Rohmetra before him on 18th of March.
Here it is relevant to mention that Rohmetra family is already facing number of defamation and cases of damages in different courts of Jammu, but each time they approached the High Court of J&K Jammu Wing under Section 226 as a result of which the cases are lying pending for years for want of justice.
