Arrangements for Nursing Fest ‘Tarang-2018’ finalised

JAMMU: The 21st meeting of the Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here wherein several important decisions for developing this College as a top ranking institution in the field of nursing education were taken .
The Governing Body, inter-alia, finalised the arrangements for organising a two-day Inter-College Competition – Nursing Fest – titled ‘Tarang-2018’ by the SMVDCoN in which various Nursing Colleges of the State will take part. The events comprising debate, quiz, poster making competition, sports and cultural programmes are scheduled to be held on March 23 & 24 2018.
The inaugural function and other events on the first day of the Nursing Fest will be held at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The events scheduled for second day will be organised at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, while the valedictory function of the “Tarang-2018” will be held at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra.
The Governing Body also took stock of the requirement of infrastructure and other logistics for the 3rd Batch of the students of the college which will commence from the forthcoming academic session. The meeting also discussed and finalised the entrance examination schedule and other matters related to the admission of students for 2018-19 session.
The meeting chaired by Maj Gen. S.K Sharma (Retd), Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman, Governing Body of the College of Nursing while reviewing the various co-curricular activities undertaken by the College of Nursing during last month, expressed satisfaction at the functioning of the SMVDCoN.
He was particularly appreciative of the participation of 11 students of the college in the National Level Biennial Conference organised by the Student Nurses Association of India at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh recently.
The meeting attended by Dr. M.K Kumar, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board; Dr. V. Verma, Dean, SMVDU; Dr. (Brig) M.M Harjai, Administrator and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College decided that the SMVDCoN will take up two projects during the January-May 2018 semester in the nearby villages for generating awareness about immunisation and breast cancer.
