UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Niraj Kumar on Wednesday while reviewing the arrangements for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2016 stressed on the need for close coordination among different departments for ensuring fool-proof arrangements for the smooth conduct of Yatra .
SSP Udhampur, Suleman Choudhary, Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, Additional Deputy Comissioner, Angrez Singh Rana, ACD Udhampur Joginder singh Rai, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Subhash Dogra , Chief Medical Officer Chander Prakash, SDM Chenani and officers of PDD, PWD, PHE, CA PD, Municipality, Representative of NHAI, Members of Shree Amarnath Ji Yatra Committee and prominent citizens were present in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail the arrangements which were being put in place by the district administration enroute from Tikri to Patnitop for the hassle-free Yatra. These include provision of drinking water ,uninterrupted power supply ,sanitation, makeshift toilets, lodging and langar facilities, medicare, traffic and security arrangements etc. at the already identified transit camps and Langars.
It was disclosed in the meeting that as many as 35 transit camps with drinking water, electricity and toilet facilities have been identified for the lodging of Yatris whereas 15 Langrs have been established by different Sava Samitis enroute from Tikri to Patnitop. Deputy District Election Officer, Sapna Kotwal was made the Nodal Officer.
During the meeting, the Power Development Department was directed to provide uninterrupted power supply and PHE authorities were instructed to arrange water tankers round the clock for the Yatris.
Stressing on providing better sanitation and cleanliness at the Langer sites, the DC asked the CEO,MC to install dustbins and provide vehicles for the proper disposal of the garbage from Langers sites as well as transit camps.
In order to avoid any inconvenience to the Yatris due to landslide during rainy days, GAMMON was directed to provide the necessary machinery and equipments and DSP Traffic was asked to ensure free flow of traffic during the Yatra. In addition to this, ARTO Udhampur was asked to provide the contingency vehicles in case of any emergency. Further, the DC issued instructions to the officers of Legal and Metrology, Food Safety and CAPD Departments to conduct regular checking of market.
Apart from this, the DDC said that a Control Room would be set up at Police Line in the district which would function round the clock for the assistance of Amarnath pilgrims and further directed all the essential departments to maintain close coordination with Yatra Control Room for providing timely services to the Yatris.
In order to meet any medical exigencies, Health Department was asked to augment medical facilities and provide ambulances at Tikri, Rehmbal, Udhampur, Chenani and Kud.
On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police assured the administration for full cooperation by the Police Department.
