Army stands alert along LoC in Poonch ahead of New Year
CROSS-BORDER THREATS
STATE TIMES NEWS
Poonch: As the New Year approaches, the Indian Army troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district remain on high alert, responding to persistent threats from across the border by Pakistan. The heightened vigilance comes in light of the ongoing infiltration attempts and security challenges posed by Pakistan-based terror outfits.
The Pir Panjal region has witnessed nearly a dozen terror attacks in the past couple of years, carried out by terrorists who infiltrated into Indian territory. Despite ceasefire agreements, cross-border activities and support for terrorism from the neighboring nation continue to pose a grave security threat.
Army officials have reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation. Stringent measures, including advanced surveillance and strategic deployments, are in place to counter any untoward incidents during the New Year celebrations.
Local residents have expressed confidence in the Army’s efforts and hope for a peaceful and secure start to the coming year.
