Army sets-up women empowerment centre

NOWSHERA: The army set up a Woman Empowerment Centre at Nowshera – Pukharni, which was inaugurated by Brig Pratik Sharma, Commander, Nowshera Brigade with the aim of creating gender equality and empowering women in the area.
At the Inauguration ceremony, Brig Pratik Sharma, Commander, Nowshera Brigade was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Jatinder Singh, SDM Nowshera Deepti Uppal, Sub Division Police Officer Nowshera, Sargun Shukla and Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar. The centre will provide a platform to the women of the area to learn and hone the skills of stitching and knitting. All the modern equipment, machinery and raw materials for the same have been provided in the centre. The step has been jointly undertaken under operation Sadbhavna by Nowshera Brigade and the civil administration.
Brig Pratik Sharma spoke about the important role of women and the special status they deserve in society. He reiterated that all sections of society must work united towards empowering women and creating opportunities for their personal growth. The locals expressed there heartfull gratitude to the Lam Battalion of Nowshera Brigade for having done an extremely good job for the local populace of the region.
