SURNAKOT: The cold wave has caused distress to the locals especially the nomads of Chungra and Mamankot along the higher reaches of the Pir Panjal Range. The villagers had approached the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, based at Samote, under Uniform Force with a requisition for providing assistance to them.
Acceding to their request, as part of Sadbhavna initiatives, the battalion distributed blankets, utensil sets, plastic sheets, CGI sheets and such items in order to help them brave out the harsh winters.
Roshan Din Wani, Sarpanch of village Mamankot and other prominent citizens felt indebted to the efforts of the Indian Army in providing relief materials to the villagers and appreciated the gesture from core of their hearts.
