BHADARWAH: To promote local sporting talent and to provide platform to the budding youths (players) of far-off areas, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion Sohanda, under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), organised Volleyball Championship 2016-17 at Sohanda area of district Doda.
On the occasion CO 26 RR Colnel Shishar Bhardwaj was the Guest of Honour.While speaking on the occasion Chief Guest CO 26 RR said, “we organise the championship as a platform for budding players as this area has potential of this game.”
He further added that the army is keen to make a healthy relation with the people especially youths for betterment of the area.
“Volleyball has been traditionally a popular game of the region followed by people of all ages,” CO added.The tournament was played between eight teams representing eleven villages of Doda.The final match was witnessed by more than 250 people including officials from civil administration, village Sarpanchs and residents. After a competitive and a hard fought match, the team from Bubha managed to beat their spirited opponents in three sets.At the conclusion of the tournament deserving players were awarded individual prizes and medals in appreciation of their skill and enthusiasm shown.
