DODA: To continue its efforts for the welfare of locals, army organised traffic awareness camp at Doda District which is plagued by frequent traffic accidents which lead to loss of precious lives. Most of these accidents are caused due to poor traffic awareness and limited knowledge of traffic rules. In order to educate general public about the traffic regulations, Indian Army alongwith Jammu and Kashmir Police organised “Traffic Awareness Programme” at Doda. The focus of this awareness drive was two fold, by targeting the two wheeler and four wheeler drivers in specific as well as public (pedestrians, cyclists etc) in general.
As planned, army teams of experienced drivers in collaboration with police as well as representative of public (NGO’s) conducted awareness classes and lectures for drivers elaborating upon basic traffic signs and road safety aspects.
The classes were organised across the district at different locations where maximum vehicles, drivers and members of general public are available including taxi stands, important cross roads, road junctions and traffic accident prone areas. Pamphlets highlighting “Do’s and Don’ts” of traffic rules for motor cyclists, four wheeler drivers, pedestrian and school children were also distributed to carry the message home.
A total of 500 people were educated by the Traffic awareness camp at Doda and first aid kit were provided to 102 civil drivers. The locals and district administration expressed their gratitude to Indian Army for its concerted efforts and assistance extended in spreading traffic awareness.
