KALAKOTE: To promote rural sports among the youth, the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion conducted a Dangal Competition at Sports Stadium, Kalakote in Rajouri District, which concluded on Saturday.
“A total of 22 youth participated in five weight categories in the competition which was conducted on a league cum knock out basis,” Defence Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, S.D Goswami said.
Attractive prizes were awarded to the winners apart from prizes for the best competitor and souvenirs for all participants.
The army has been conducting various sporting events in the region to promote rural sports including `Dangal’ which is very popular among the youth in remote villages of Rajouri and Reasi Districts, PRO Defence said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Tehsildar of Kalakote
said such events bring to fore the talent of the youth and helps them build self discipline and confidence.
