Army, Himayat facilitate employment of youth
TANGDHAR: Building upon previous successes in employment generation, wherein 22 youth from the remote Karnah Tehsil of Kupwara District had been employed in retail sector jobs such as Café Coffee Day in Pune and a BPO in Chandigarh, the Indian Army again organised an employment drive in Tangdhar.
The employment drive was organised through a tie-up with the Himayat programme, being jointly run by Union Ministry of Rural Development and the NGO IL and FS. After enrolment and counseling, the youth were directed to report for training to the Himayat Training Facility at Jammu, where they will be empowered with the skill-sets required for jobs in the retail sector.
A large turnout of nearly 176 youth, came to seek their fortune through this employment program, which integrates the country, through the placement of youth from rural and remote areas of Kashmir, in economically vibrant cities such as Chandigarh and Pune. Their spirits were bolstered by earlier graduates of the programme, who gave out their own very pleasant experiences of their training, their workplaces and the welcoming attitude of people of their host cities.
The youth and their parents were extremely thankful to the Indian Army for taking the initiative to link them up to a program which will ensure a brighter future for them.
