Army felicitates GGF J&K for initiating relief camps during Op Sindoor & Op Rahat

NAGROTA: Gandhi Global Family (GGF), a United Nations DGC recognised peace NGO and its members were honoured by the White Knight Corps for their outstanding humanitarian contribution during Operation Sindoor and Operation Rahat. The felicitation ceremony was held at the Corps Headquarters Nagrota, Jammu.

Gandhi Global Family J&K, which worked in close coordination with the Jammu & Kashmir Ex-Services League (JKESL) during these critical operations, was recognised for its dedicated service. Lt Gen P.K. Mishra, GOC White Knight Corps, personally presented mementos and appreciation letters to the awardees.
The event was attended by Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma, (Retd.), President JKESL and Dr S.P. Varma, Padma Shri awardee, President GGF J&K, along with members of both organisations.
During Operation Sindoor, GGF J&K actively supported the civil administration and the Indian Army by reaching out to affected families, organising blood donation camps and distributing rations, medicines and essential items in shelling-affected areas of Jourian, Khour, Pallanwala, Rajouri, Mendhar, Poonch, Srinagar, Uri (Baramulla) and Karnah (Kupwara).
Subsequently, Jammu & Kashmir faced severe natural disasters due to heavy rains, cloudbursts and flash floods.
During Operation Rahat, GGF J&K once again rose to the occasion and extended timely relief and support to displaced and affected families in coordination with JKESL.
Recognising this commendable humanitarian service, the GOC, 16 Corps, felicitated members of Gandhi Global Family J&K at 16 Corps Headquarters, Nagrota.
GGF J&K expressed sincere gratitude to the GOC, 16 Corps and Lt Gen (Retd.) Rakesh Sharma, President JKESL, for their encouragement and continued support.
The members of Gandhi Global Family J&K who were felicitated include Rev. Fr Yesudeep Sandhu, Er. Ankush Varma, Harish Sharma, R.K. Kokroo, Dr Dinesh Gupta, Pt. Rameshwar Dutt, Summi Sahi Seth, Gopal Krishan Sharma, Dr Perivinder Kaur Dutta, Ved Prakash Verma, Bashir Ahmed Sheikh, Romi Sharma, Adv. Sanjeev Sharma, Dr R. Robin Gill and Dr S.P. Varma (Padma Shri awardee).
On the occasion, Lt Gen P.K. Mishra appreciated the selfless work of both organisations and their dedicated members, emphasising the need for more stronger coordination between civil society organisations and the Indian Army to ensure that no one is left behind during times of crisis.
Lt Gen (Retd.) Rakesh Sharma also lauded the significant role played by JKESL and GGF J&K across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir during Operation Sindoor and Operation Rahat.
Dr S.P. Varma, President GGF J&K, highlighted the crucial role played by volunteers during difficult times, congratulated all the members on receiving the honour and encouraged them to continue working for the cause of humanity.
