BANIHAL: A double storey residential building belonging to Mohammad Aslam in Lonepura Duliagm under Tehsil Banihal, was gutted in fire late evening on 13th May 2016. The reasons for the fire which engulfed the entire building in no time could not be ascertained.
Reacting to the distress call immediately, a team of ten jawans under an officer of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion located at Banihal were the first responders at the site.
The army immediately picquetted the area and in coordination with Banihal Fire Station and locals controlled the fire from spreading any further. The fire could only be extinguished fully by late night.
The timely action by army saved precious lives as well as valuables from the burning building.
