MENDHAR: As part of anti tobacco campaign, schools of education zone Gursai on Thursday organised a rally at village Gursai to create awareness among the people about the health hazards of smoking and consumption of other tobacco products.
The rally was organised by Principal HSS Moori Gursai and Incharge, Zonal Education Officer, Harni, Mohd Sadeeq Chouhan who also flagged off the rally. After passing through main villages of Gursai the rally returned back and culminated at same venue.
The staff and students of the Higher Secondary School Moori Gursai and its adjoining Middle and Primary Schools, local people and Panchayat members participated in the rally and seminar.
During the seminar, students, teachers and civil society members threw light on the bad effects of using tobacco products. They said that the consumption of tobacco and smoking causes diseases like cancer, while asserting that all the religions prohibit addiction of any kind.
Later, a rally was taken out by the students to spread awareness against use of tobacco, holding banners and placards inscribed with anti tobacco slogans.
Prominent persons of the area hailed this step of Education Department. The speakers include H.D Qureshi, Former President 10+2 Lecturer Forum President, Khursheer Hussain, Hazra Khatoon, Uzma Kousar, Irsahd Ahmed, Qasid Ali Shah, Yasir Ali and others.
