ANTF J&K nabs three drug smugglers with huge quantity of poppy straw in Jammu

JAMMU: The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police, specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs, on Sunday achieved another success after it foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of Poppy Straw worth lakhs of rupees.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) ANTF Jammu Vinay Kumar said, “On specific information that two Trucks bearing registration no. JK02AD-0568 driven by Javed Ahmed Chichi, son of Mukhtayar Ahmed Chichi, resident of Hillar Arhama Anantnag and JK03C-5466 driven by Rameez Ahmed, son of Saif ud Din, resident of Muniwar, Anantnag along with co-driver Javed Ahmed, son of Ali Mohammad, resident of Sofi Gund Wanpoo, Anantnag coming from Kashmir valley and going outside J&K via Jammu has concealed large quantity of Poppy Straw.”
“On this information case FIR No.10/2022 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act and Case FIR No. 11/2022 under section 8/15/29 NDPS Act were registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu and ANTF teams immediately swung into action and laid Naka at NHW-44 near Bagh E Bahu Morh Sidhra Narwal Bye Pass Road Jammu,” he said.
SSP ANTF J&K Kumar further said, “The above mentioned trucks were intercepted by the alert ANTF team and during through search of truck, ANTF sleuths recovered 70 Kilograms and 850 grams of Poppy Straw from Truck (JK02AD-0568) and 222 Kilograms & 740 grams of Poppy Straw from truck (JK03C-5466) which was concealed in specialized designed space in both the trucks.”
“All three accused persons were arrested in the instant case and both truck besides the contraband has been seized,” SSP ANTF J&K added.
ANTF is investigating further links, the official said, adding, “more arrests are expected in this regard.”
“The Anti-Narcotic Task Force appeals to the general public to share information regarding such drug dealers so that appropriate legal actions are taken against them and this menace is uprooted from our society, ” he added.
