JAMMU: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari on Thursday convened a series of meetings to review the functioning of the departments under his ministry.
Commissioner Secretary IT, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Hirdesh Kumar, DG Sports, Jehangir Mir, Director Technical Education, Shabnam Kamli, Secretary Sports Council, Javid Shah and concerned senior officers were present in the meeting.
The minister received a detailed resume of activities and achievements from all these departments and Sports Council.
He asked the concerned officers to take concerted efforts for generating mass awareness among stakeholders about the Skill Development mission so that maximum people specially the youth can avail benefit of the programme and enhance their employability.
Ansari appreciated the projected Skill Development Plan by the department and emphasized on completing the works of 18 new Polytechnic colleges in a time bound manner.
The minister was apprised that the modalities for introducing the heritage craft course in different ITI’s and Polytechnics of the State has already begun .Regarding the proposal for skill training programme in Polytechnic colleges for the current session, starting from May 2016, he was informed that 13 institutions are providing training in different trades and skills across the state including Srinagar, Pattan, Anantnag, Baramulla, Jammu, Kathua, Poonch and Basohli. About Rs 260 lakh are proposed to be expended on the programme during the financial year.
Ansari stressed the need achieving the set targets maintaining that requisite steps will be taken to give impetus to the sports activities in the State.
Later, a newsletter “Activities and achievements of Youth Services and Sports” was released by the Minister on the occasion. The Newsletter is dedicated to former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed for his visionary ideas to revive sports sector in the state.
