Ansari reiterates Govt’s resolve to promote sports

JAMMU: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari on Thursday said the government will honor Hashim Mansoor hailing from Bandipora, Kashmir who won gold medal in Asian Karate Championship.
Imrna Ansari extended his felicitations to seven-year-old boy Hashim and said his achievement will inspire many children of the state who will come forward to showcase their talent in different sports activities.
“It is a great honour to see another gold medal champion emerging from Bandipora after eight-year-old girl Tajamul Islam bagged gold in the world Kickboxing Championship in Italy,” Ansari said. “Such feats boost the morale of our sportspersons and motivate them to perform to the best of their potential.” Representing India in sub-junior category, Hashim won the gold at the Asian Youth Karate championship by beating his rival from Sri Lanka. The Championship witnessed participation from 19 other countries. Now, the Bandipora boy is all set to represent India next in the World Karate Championship to be held in Europe in September 2017.
The Minister further said that Youth Services & Sports Department is taking keen interest to provide every possible support and facility to encourage participation of children in different sports activities.
“Today every parent understands that sports can also be a career option for their kids – in fact, a star career option,” Minister said. “Besides when our kids come home with gold after gold, it naturally boosts the sporting spirits.”
