JAMMU: The three-day annual inter-department sports meet at Central University of Jammu (CUJ) concluded at its temporary academic block Sainik Colony here with the holding of finals in team events of basketball, volleyball and badminton.
Earlier, in women’s badminton singles title clash, Arushi of Department of TTM outplayed Prabjot of Department of English.
The doubles badminton title went to the pair of Prabjot and Safina of Department of English, who defeated Arushi and Krishma of Department of TTM.
In men’s badminton single’s event, Manish of Department of NSS trounced Gijo Jose of Department of MCNM. The men’s doubles badminton final won by the pair of Mayukh and Shashi Kant of Department of NSS, who beat Neeraj Dhiman and Nitish Manotra of Department of HRM.
The men’s basketball final was won by department of HRM beating TTM 8-4. The women’s basketball title was claimed by department of English outplaying Department of EVS 15-04. Similarly, in volleyball, the men’s title went to Department of HRM after they beat TTM 3-1.
Today’s finals were witnessed besides others by Vice Chancellor of CUJ, Prof Ashok Aima, who appreciated the participating teams and complimented the efforts put in by the Dean Students Welfare (DSW) in making the event a success.
This sport meet was conducted under the supervision of the convenors, Dr Pankaj Mehta, Dr Neelika Arora, Dr Govind Kumar Inakhiya, Dr Kiran, Rahul Thakur, Dr Anita Singh and Mohit Sharma.
Later, Dean Student Welfare, Dr Pavinder Singh congratulated the Organising Committee members and disclosed that the prize distribution of the sports meet shall take place next month in a function to be held on the campus.
