JAMMU: “Sound physique is the great chamber of soul, the sick its prison”. Believing upon this saying and to keep the interest of the students in physical activities alive, Model Academy organised the Annual Sports Day for Humming Buds and the Primary Wing on Sunday at the BC Road Campus.
Chairman MIER, Dr. Arun. K. Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The programmme commenced with the lighting of the torch by the chairman and the meet was declared open by the Guest of Honour, Dr. Renu Gupta.
There were performances by the students which included ribbon dance, karate and aerobics.
Different races like treasure hunt, toffee race, fix the puzzle, mask race, hurdle race, skipping race, etc. were conducted. The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Their zest was boosted by the parents, staff as the spectators.
Dr. Arun Gupta appreciated the students for taking part in various activities and also stressed that participation is more important than winning. He also stressed that sports inculcate discipline and focus in students which help them to become self-confident.
Other dignitaries present were Dr. Adit Gupta Joint Director MIER, Dr. Ankur Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Rupa Gupta Management Representative, Ruchika Gupta, Project Director, Humming Buds, Dr. Chitra Misra, Principal and Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal.
The winners of various events were honoured with gold, silver and bronze medals. Jasleen Mohial, Coordinator, Primary Wing extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and the parents of the participants.
The whole programme was coordinated by Usha Chunni, Sports Officer of the School Wing and Raman and Reema, PTIs.
Vote of thanks was presented by Manju Vali, Convener Co-Curricular Activities, who also compered the programme.
All the participants and parents were served refreshment and light snacks after the event.
