The actor has bagged a key role in Amazon’s upcoming sci-fi drama pilot based on Michel Faber’s cult hit book.

Matt Charman, of “Bridge of Spies” is writing the pilot while Kevin MacDonald of “The Last King of Scotland” is directing it.

“It’s a show I am doing which is based on a book. It’s too early to talk about it. I am very excited and proud that I got this opportunity to work with the best director, writer, producer, who all are Oscar winners. There’s so much to learn from them,” Kapoor told reporters.

The yet-untitled TV adaptation follows a priest who is sent into space to help find a new colony.

Reportedly, the “Dil Dhadakne Do” star will play Vikram Danesh, the authoritative head of the base on Oasis.

The show also features Richard Madden, best known for playing Robb Stark in “Game of Thrones” and Haley Joel Osment.

The 59-year-old actor said right now they’ve shot for a pilot and once it gets the go-ahead signal, they will take it forward.

“We have to see what happens next. First we shoot the pilot and then its green lit. Once it’s green lit we go and shoot the entire season. We have just done the pilot now.

“We will wait for the result to come. When Amazon says okay cool, I’ll talk more about it. But I am very excited about it.”

The actor was speaking at the Van Heusen GQ Fashion Nights where he walked the ramp for designer Kunal Rawal, who launched his ‘Grey Method’ collection.

Kapoor looked dapper in a three-piece kurta clubbed with a stylish jacket and apart from doing the serious ramp walk, also broke into an impromptu dancing on stage.

“When you are walking the ramp there is a certain decorum. You’re not selling yourself, the clothes that I am wearing that’s important. When you walk the ramp the focus is not on the person but the clothes. Once its done then (you do) little bit of fun. That’s what I did,” Kapoor said when asked about the dance.

On the film front, he will be next seen in “Mubaraka” set to release on July 28, next year.
