JAMMU: Anganwadi workers and helpers under the banner of J and K National Trade Union Front on Monday held a protest demanding rollback of termination order issued by State Mission Director Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).
Several workers and helpers gathered at the Press Club Jammu raising slogans against the ICDS authorities for terminating their services from the department.
The workers also took out a procession from Press Club Jammu towards the District Development Commissioner Jammu which was foiled by police.
Addressing the gathering, trade union leader Mohammad Gafoor Dar condemned the callous attitude of the State Government particularly the ICDS Minister who has started harassing and victimizing the Anganwadi workers and helpers by issuing termination order.
Gafoor Dar appealed to the workers and helpers working in ICDS to organise protest at the district headquarters against the order to press the State Government for its immediate withdrawal.
Mehjabeen, Suman, Rachna, Sunita, Princy Bhatt, Bilwinder Kaur, Zaida Akhter, Aruna, Komal, Shahida Parveen, Naida, Aruna and Vikramjeet Singh were also spoken on the occasion.
