BHADARWAH: The three-day cultural events and educational seminar (Youth Festival) ‘Sangam’ at Bhadarwah Campus concluded here on Wednesday with the distribution of prizes among the participants.
The youth festival was organised by Bhadarwah Campus in collaboration with 4 Rashtriya Rifles (Bihar) to promote everlasting peace and prosperity in the Chenab Valley.
The closing ceremony of the mega event was organised in presence of Chief Guest, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Rector Bhadarwah Campus Prof. G.M Bhat.
A large number of Civil and Military dignitaries, persons from Civil Administration, Police Department, CRPF and Principals of Colleges/Schools were also present.
The event also witnessed participation of approximately 400 students and teachers from eight Colleges including Bhadarwah Campus, University of Jammu, Islamia Faridia College, Kishtwar, Government Degree Colleges of Bhadarwah, Doda, Kishtwar, Kilotran, Marwah and Chhatru and eight schools of Bhadarwah including two Government Higher Secondary Schools and six private schools.
During the closing ceremony, the Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah in his address highlighted various aspects of return of normalcy in the region which was evident from the enthusiastic participation of the students from various colleges including the girl students.
The General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), who was the Chief Guest, stressed on empowerment of youth and the role Army can play in achieving the same. He assured the local populace of continued and unconditional support in shaping the future of the students through many opportunities by Army.
Bhaderwah Campus stood first while runners-up trophy was bagged by Govt Degree College Kilhotran. Farhat Jahan PG student of English from Bhadarwah Campus topped the medals tally by winning four gold medals and one silver.
Prof G.M Bhat encouraged the students and populace to work in synergy with the Armed Forces to combat turmoil and uphold peace. He said that these kinds of events will help to strengthen the bond of mutual brotherhood.
