SRINAGAR: In the ongoing Ninth Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup being played at Islamia College Srinagar on Thursday, Islamia College defeated Government Degree College Shopian by 79 runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, Islamia College made 137 runs in allotted 25 overs.
For Islamia College, Furqaan contributed 22 runs in 15 deliveries while Dawood chipped in with 17 runs in 10 deliveries. For GDC Shopian, Saleem and Mohsin took two wickets each.
Chasing a target, GDC Shopian failed to face the tight bowling attach of Islamia College and lost too many wickets too early and finally as bundled out for 58 runs in just 12. 3 overs, thus lost the match by 79 runs.
Mohsin was the only batsman who could reach double figures by scoring 13 runs in 17 balls.
For Islamia College, captain Umer Dar scalped six wickets while Dawood and Danish tool two each.
Umer Dar was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.
Islamia College shall take on GDC Pulwama in the semi-finals on Saturday. On 21st November, first semifinal will be played between Gandhi Memorial College and GDC Bijbihara.
