JAMMU: Young speed star Aditya Chib of J and K got the distinction of becoming the first player of the State for 2016-17 to be selected as first standby to represent North Zone in under-19 Inter Zone one day limited overs tournament for Vinoo Mankad Trophy to be played at Himachal Pradesh.
His name came in the Zonal Selection Committee meeting held on Sunday at Delhi and District Cricket Association, New Delhi on the basis of his brilliant performance in match played against Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HCPA) under-19 team at Roshnara Club Ground, New Delhi.
Aditya Chib playing his maiden under-19 match for J and K demolished HPCA middle order by taking four wickets in six overs giving just 13 runs. The Zonal Selection Committee selected 15 players and four standbys for under-19 Inter Zone one day limited overs team for Vinoo Mankad Trophy.
Aditya Chib has earlier attended under-16 Zonal Cricket Camp, Dharamshala on the basis of his performance.
In today’s match, Jammu and Kashmir registered a thumping eight-wicket victory against Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) team in their match of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 One Day Tournament at Roshnara Club Ground, New Delhi.
Batting first, HPCA could only manage 104 runs before being bundled out in 24.3 overs. A.A Walia and P.S Tomar were the top scorers with 25 and 34 runs respectively. Aditya Chib was the wrecker in chief with four wickets to his kitty for 13 runs in his six-over spell.
In reply, J and K reached the target of 105 in 25.2 overs losing only two wickets and earned four points. Sahil Lotra top scored with a fine knock of 33 runs while Tahsin Dar and Qamran Iqbal added 24 and 19 runs respectively to winning total.
