Young Rovers clinch football title

JAMMU: Young Rovers on Friday clinched the thriller beating fighting Param Football Club (Param FC) 3-2 via tie breaker in the district level football tournament, organised by 66th Bn of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Mini Stadium, Parade here on Friday.
The match could not be decided in the stipulated time with final score being 1-1. However, in tie-breaker, Young Rovers proved to be better side and made it a 3-2 victory in the all important game.
Earlier, with the help of Brijender Kumar and Amritpal Singh, who scored one goal each, Param Football Club defeated Churchill Brothers by 2-0 in the first semifinal. In another semifinal, Young Rovers defeated Shaheen Football Club in an exciting game by 1-0. Ishant from Young Rovers scored the solitary goal. The final winners Young Rovers were awarded with the title trophy and cash prize of Rs 20,000 by the Chief Guest, MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta while the runners-up team of Param FC got Rs 10,000. The winning team of Young Rovers shall now represent Jammu District in the inter-district competition commencing at the same venue from 27th February. Earlier, the Chief Guest was presented with a token of love by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of SSB, Manavendra Negi.
