Young lawyers demand voting right in JKHCBA election

JAMMU: Young Lawyers Association in an appeal to the senior Advocates have asked them to support their cause to vote in the ensuing election of JKHCBA scheduled to be held on 8th April, 2017.
President Young Lawyers Association Daljit Singh Manilas said that the Constitution of Bar Association Jammu (Now JKHCBA) envisages the voting rights to all the members of the Associatrion who have been enrolled as member till date of issue of election notification which is 3rd March, 2017. He said that unfortunately 400 young lawyers enrolled from 1st January, 2016 to 3rd March, 2017 have been deprived from the right to vote which is not a House decision. He, on behalf of all the members enrolled between 1st January, 2016 to 3rd March, 2017 has appealed to the senior lawyers to support their demand for restoration of their voting rights in the ensuing JKHCBA Jammu elections 2017. Meanwhile the teams of young lawyers visited Udhampur and Samba and discussed the issue with the Bar members and secured overwhelming support to their cause. The Bar members there said that democratic system is a fundamental right and denial of their right to vote is illegal.
The team that visited Samba include President Daljeet Singh Manhas, Vice President Pradeep Majotra, Manpreet Singh and Vishal Tandon and those who supported their cause include Mandeep Sambal, Rajesh Bhagat and Pardeep Majotra. The team that visited Udhampur include Pushpinder Singh Manhas and Pradeep Majotra and those who responded include President Bar Association Surinder Khajuria.
