Jammu: Senior Congress leader and Ex-Minister Yogesh Sawhney has decided to contest forthcoming elections as an independent candidate from Jammu East Assembly constituency.
Sawhney told STATE TIMES that on the persistent demand of voters of Jammu East Assembly Constituency he has decided to contest elections as an independent candidate.
He said a large number of people of the Constituency met him, insisting him to contest elections as they have no faith in other candidates. He said that Congress is considering mandate to those who have no footing on ground and are new to Jammu East Constituency.
The former minister said that his main aim is to serve the people and this is the only motivation to contest elections as an independent candidate. He does not contemplate to join any other party and will begin his election campaigning soon.
