POONCH: Youth National Conference on Sunday staged a protest over recent step of demonetisation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi terming it a cause of major problem for common masses and also castigated State Coalition partners for making false promises with Poonchities.
Protest was led by YNC leader Nishu Sharma who was accompanied by Sunny Sharma, Rohit Khajuria, Mohd Rashid, Tariq Khan, Sunil Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh, Sunil Sharma.
During the protest, effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also set in fire along with sloganeering against both State as well as Central Government.
YNC leaders during protest said that the move of demonetization, which was termed as an assault on black money by Prime Minister, has pushed common masses in problems as no black money holder or financially sound people are seen in the lines of banks and only common masses are seen spending hours in queues.
“Black money holders are getting money replaced with new currency through their own means and recovery of a large amount of new currency in different parts of country is a glaring example of same,” they said.
Further castigating central government, they said that rural pockets of country like in Poonch district are worst affected by this and people are crunched in cashless time with no cash available with most of them to spend in day to day needs.
“People have to borrow small amount of cash even to buy medicines which clearly represents the tight situation faced by common masses ” they said while further pressing demand of providing adequate amount of fresh currency at the earliest.
Besides this YNC leaders also said that promises made by coalition partner with Poonch before polls like strengthening cross LoC trade, Railway link and other should be fulfilled at the earliest.
