STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Young Lawyer Association (YLA) under the leadership of President Daljeet Singh Manhas in a meeting condemned the recent decision taken by the Governor whereby criterion was fixed for appointment as a Government Counsel in High Court.
Addressing the young lawyer, President YLA said that decisions is taken without taking young lawyers into confidence, who are practicing in various Courts and the present decision is not only harsh but a step to demoralise the young advocates. The opportunities and the strength of YLA can be seen by giving them opportunities and then they should be judged as per their performance. He said any decision, which will be against the interest and welfare of young lawyers, would be dealt with harsh hands. Rules framed are clearly in violation of the fundamental rights of the young lawyers who are practicing in various Courts who get very less chance to appear in High Court. These rules out rightly make the young lawyers of trial Courts ineligible to be appointment as government advocates in High Court only few blue eyed persons will be given benefit who have vested interest.
YLA President appealed to the present Coalition Government that the hopes of the young lawyers should not be snubbed and immediately withdraw all such arbitrary rules. He also appealed to the government to enhance retainership fee of lawyers and release the pending retainership fee of the lawyers and provide adequate security to the advocates. The meeting was attended by Pardeep Majotra (Vice President YLA), Mandeep Singh, Anoop Singh, Pooja Kotwal, Vivek Sharma, Gurjeet Singh Wazir, Neeraj Mengi, Pooja devi, Harsh Sharma and other members of YLA.
