Jammu: In less than a month three patients including two ladies have died due to medical negligence thus exposing the deteriorating conditions of Health Department in the State.
In yet another incident, a woman died after she was not provided timely medicare in Rajouri District Hospital following which the attendants ransacked the hospital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the lady doctor was placed under suspension for being absent from the duty, sources here said.
The doctor was suspended following attendants ransacked a hospital after woman’s death in Rajouri District.
“A woman namely Sadia Kouser, resident of Badhoon village, Rajouri was brought to District Hospital Rajouri last evening where she was examined by a doctor and later referred to the gynecology ward,” official sources said.
They said that as per attendants the doctor was called but time and again she did not respond and the lady died.
The angry attendants ransacked the gynecology ward and operation theatre of the hospital.
Attendants kept protesting against the Health Department while the district administration has placed the gynecologist under suspension and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
The report would be submitted in a week’s time, said an official adding that a case has been registered against hospital staff.
Earlier on 15th February, at least nine medicos were suspended as shortage of staff sparked protest in Surankote area of Poonch district.
Locals staged protest over shortage of staff and other basic facilities in Surankote Hospital of Poonch following which SDM Surankote Afzal Mirza placed nine officials of Sub District Hospital under suspension for unauthorised absence.
Meanwhile on 2nd February, hundreds of protestors blocked Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and staged sit-in against pregnant woman’s death in a hospital in Banihal area of Ramban.
Zubida Begum, who was pregnant and was rushed to Banihal hospital, died due to absence of doctors.
