YC sets up help desk for bank customers

STATE TIMES NEWS
R S PURA: Youth Congress today set up a help desk in front of J&K Bank Kullian, here to assist people, who come to the banks for exchange of banned notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 and deposit such denominations.
Welcoming central government’s objectives of fighting corruption and weeding out black money, National Coordinator IYC and State Spokesperson Chetan Wanchoo said any such move should have been implemented without destabilizing the Indian market.
“We wholeheartedly welcome any move to fight black money, but the way Modi Government took this initiative without necessary preparations, have left people helpless. Meanwhile, false propaganda of ‘currency tracking system’ in the new Rs 2,000 notes has created panic. In fact, the government has helped blackmoney hoarders by introducing Rs 2,000 notes, which are smaller in size. It will be easy for black money hoarders to keep more currency,” Wanchoo charged.
He said the disclosure of Rs 65,000 cr blackmoney through financial policy is just 0.06 per cent of the total estimated black money in India.
“Narendra Modi himself has asserted that the black money stashed in foreign banks amounts to Rs 80,00,000 cr. They said before election that black money of Indians stashed in foreign banks will be brought back. However, instead of bringing black money from foreign banks, the government has created a situation of lawlessness through demonetization,” he said, citing instances of deaths in front of banks and other sufferings of people due to the banning of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000.
“Lakhs of ATMs across the nation remain non-functional and common man is made to wander in search of functional ATMs,” he added.
J&K Youth Congress workers also helped those persons who were not able to fill the form to replace the money or take money. Jammu Poonch Lok Sabha Secretary Sachin Gupta said that for those senior citizens and differently-abled persons, who were not in position to stand in queue for long time, youth Congress workers stood in queue. “Such help desks will continue throughout the city in coming days till people of J&K get relief from this disease given by our Prime Minister of India”, Sachin said. Gharu Ram Bhagat former MLA was also present.
