YAIKS terms PM’s Return and Rehabilitation Package an eyewash

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Youth All India Kashmir Samaj (YAIKS) on Wednesday flayed successive State and Union Governments for allegedly neglecting Kashmiri Pandits on political, economic and social fronts in Jammu and Kashmir.
The activists of YAIKS, including women and children, assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club and held protest amidst anti government slogans seeking to save the future of GeNext Kashmiri Pandits working under PM Package.
They said, “PM’s Return and Rehabilitation Package for Kashmiri Migrants- A mere eyewash.”
“We have been speaking about our serious concern over the miserable plight of KPs for last 26 years, however the power corridors have time and again turned a deaf ear to our just and genuine demands,” Vice President of the YAIKS, B.K Bhat said adding that the lackadaisical approach of the government in proper implementation of the PM’s Return and Rehabilitation Package of Kashmiri Pandits has completely put this scheme off-track due to which the KP employees recruited under the said Package in Kashmir Valley are facing a lot of difficulty and hardships.
Under this package, he said, the government had claimed to rehabilitate 65,000 migrant families back to Valley. However the reality, duly supported by the appointments done so far by the government, is that so far during the last eight years the government could not even rehabilitate 1.800 KP youths who had volunteered to serve in Kashmir Valley, he alleged.
The non-implementation of the package has again exposed the evil designs of the political parties involved and their apathy towards the nationalist forces of microscopic community of Kashmiri Pandits.
“The incompetence of the successive governments is highlighted by the fact that from year 2008, out of the sanctioned 6,000 jobs only some 1,800 youth have been recruited till date and the remaining 4,200 posts are still left unfilled. Furthermore out of these 1,800 employees only some 800 employees have been provided accommodation, that too on sharing basis,” he mentioned.
The KP youth under the aegis of YAIKS had volunteered in 2010 to move back to the Valley on the premise that this will strengthen the Kashmiriyat and shall help in building the broken bridges between the two communities, he said adding that but the gross apathy shown by the successive governments has only increased their misery and suffering.
The anti-social and anti-national elements have once again raised their heads and are working in tandem with Pakistan and the notorious ISI, he said adding that this scenario has further instilled fear not only in the minds of these employees but also the miniscule community members living there in Valley.
“The employees therefore suggest either to adjust them in Central Government offices or make them migrants or otherwise take some remedial measures on war footing basis to relieve these employees from this harassment and mental torture,” he said.
Among employees who addressed the gathering included, Arti Koul, Omesh Raina, Preeti Koul, Princy Dhar, Ajay Bhat, Sarita, Pradeep Kisroo, Surinder, Rakesh and Sheetu Tickoo.
YAIKS core group members who addressed the protesters included Sunil Koul Vice President, Manoj Handoo General Secretary, Ajay Safaya, Sanjay Ganjoo, Sunil Dhar, Sanjay Raina, Ajay Koul, Ajay Raina and Sunil Bhat-Secretaries and D.N Bhat Advisor.
