Demanded Rs 1,36,000 for issuance of allotment orders

SRINAGAR: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) nabbed one Tariq Ahmad Kachroo, son of Noor Mohd Kachroo, resident of Undrus, Pampore-Ladoo Road, Pulwama, presently posted as Executive Engineer, Ground Water Division, PHE (Jal Shakti) Kashmir, red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 as second installment out of total bribe amount of Rs 1,36,000, as demanded by the erring officer. As per an official spokesperson, the ACB Srinagar received a complaint alleging therein that Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Department, Ground Water Division, Kashmir was demanding Rs 1,36,000 as bribe for issuance of allotment orders in favour of complainants. The complainants has already paid a bribe of Rs 30,000 few days back and now second installment of Rs 25,000 was supposed to be paid. However, before paying bribe amount to accused, the complainants approached ACB for taking legal action against the accused public servant. The official further said that on receipt of complaint, FIR No. 34/2022 under section 7 of PC Act 1988 was registered and investigation started. “A trap team constituted, which caught accused public servant Tariq Ahmad Kachroo red handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 25,000 from complainant as second installment. The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses. Subsequently, searches were carried out at different locations associated with accused,” said official, adding that further investigation is going on.
