SRINAGAR: The Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir is set to host selection trials for the Junior Wushu team on July 1st and 2nd, 2024, at SKISC Srinagar.
These trials are pivotal for identifying talented athletes who will represent the Union Territory in the upcoming 23rd Junior National Wushu Championship at KPR College of Engineering, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Participants from all 19 districts of Jammu and Kashmir are expected to participate, competing in bouts and Taolu events under the scrutiny of a distinguished selection committee chaired by Kuldeep Handoo, a Dronacharya Awardee.
The committee includes Maqsood Rather, Faisal Ali, Ajaz Hassan, Sher Bhadur, and an observer from the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
The schedule includes a morning weigh-in followed by matches and evaluations each day, ensuring a thorough assessment of skills and fitness.
Beyond the trials, selected athletes will undergo intensive training from July 3 to 23, 2024, also at SKISC Srinagar, facilitated by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
This initiative not only aims to foster sporting excellence but also highlights the commitment of the Wushu Association in promoting youth participation and skill development in the region’s sporting landscape.
