Wrestler Mirza from Iran wins 94th Ramkote Kesri Dangal title

Overwhelming crowd turn up to witness historical Dangal

KATHUA: Wrestler Mirza from Iran won the 94th Ramkote Kesri Dangal title by defeating Ajay Varan from Hanuman Akhara Dehli. The Dangal was organised by the Dangal Committee Ramkote at Ramkote, here on Thursday.
The winner wrestler Mirza bagged a cash prize of Rs 2,50,000 presented to him by the Chief Guest, Satish Sharma, senior BJP leader and Gushu Malaysia, who also sponsored and virtually inaugurated the event from Malaysia.
He was accompanied by DDC Narayan Dutt, BDC Abay Khajuria and Sarpanch Pardeep Singh, SHO Billawar, Police Chowki Incharge Ramkot and Rajesh Gupta, President Dangal Committee Ramkote.
The historical Ramkote Kesri Dangal has a long history as it was being organized every year since 1930. This year a total 75 bouts were decided in the day long Dangal amid a crowd of more than 40000 spectators.
The second main bout for Rs 1,50,000 was won by Dehli Hind Kesri wrestler Aaryan after a tough fight with Parveen Kohli from Punjab. The third bout for Rs 1,00,000 was won by Hameed from Iran by defeating Raju from India on point basis. Similarly, the fourth bout between Ashik and Rana Kohali for Rs 75,000 was won by Rana Kohali.
Female wrestlers also participated with a slogan ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and ‘Kehlo India’.
In special bouts, Rinku of Dehli beat Gopi Kohali on point basis while local boy Gaurav from Nagrota mesmerized public with excellence by defeating wrestler Parveen. Members of Organising Committee and technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of Dangal were president Rajesh Gupta, Sarpanch Pardeep Singh, Vice President Kishore Mehra, committee members Pardeep Khajuria Director, Rocky Mehra, Rajinder Kumar, Virinder Kumar, Satish Kharka, Anil Kumar, Vishal Raina, Ravikant Gupta (General Secretary), Kailash Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Dharminder Gupta and Vinod Spolia.
For new and emerging wrestlers huge applaud and appreciation was received from public.
At the end, the committee extended vote of thanks to local administration, press and media, and all the wrestlers who made this event a great success and extended invitation to them for participating in Ramkote Kesri 2024 to be held on June 20, 2024.
