Brilliant Chitra fails to fit in ‘bits & pieces’ players’ bunch

KOLKATA: J&K suffered a shocking defeat by 5 wickets against minnows Tripura because of the stragetic failure and poor composition of the Playing XI in the ongoing Women’s Under-23 T20 Trophy match at Barasat Ground, Kolkata on Sunday.
Despite all the efforts of the Administrators with regard to facilitating the team and the Support Staff with every facility, the teams are not performing to their potential.
The brilliance of ace all-rounder Chitra Singh Jamwal gets wasted in the poor scheme of things as she fails to fit in the ‘bits & pieces players’ bunch’. One observes a few players are there to just fit the bill and no one knows whether they play as batters or bowlers in the team. Earlier, put into bat, J&K scored a modest total of 96 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. In this match, J&K opened with Bawandeep Kaur and skipper Rudrakshi Chib, who served as the fourth change as an opening batter so far in five matches, which is a point of serious concern as to what made the coaches to make frequent changes in the opening pair. Anyway, consistent Chitra Singh Jamwal once again top scored with 51 runs off 56 balls, studded with 5 fours and one six, while Manya Banotra contributed 22 runs off 29 balls with 2 boundaries. Lalita remained unconquered on 9 off 19 balls. For Tripura, Sebika Das, Ambesha Das and Prianka Saha claimed one wicket each. In reply, Tripura rode on a brilliant innings of 43 runs by Puja Das and chased the target in 19.1 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Puja scored the runs in 45 balls with 7 boundaries. Skipper Puja Paul and Antra Das contributed 12 runs each.
For J&K, Rudrakshi Chib, Chitra Singh Jamwal, Madhu Devi and Mariya Noorain claimed one wicket each.
