Dear Editor,
It predicts well for the future of that society, which encourages women to speak out their problems and issues in public.
An important topic which is gaining attention in the society is ‘Political Participation and Decision Making’ by women. Unlike many other countries where women are still to attain their equal status, India is perhaps one of the few fortunate ones where women never had to struggle for equality in political process. We have always had women who have held high political officers with ease and competence.
Mrs. Vijaylaxmi Pundit Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and many more have been the leading luminaries among them.
India had held a premier position on the political scenario of the world because of its unconditional acceptance of women as equal partners with men. It is therefore uniquely placed to guide many nations who are struggling to provide political participation for women in their public life.
The need of the hour is to encourage the women folk to actively participate in both, public and political issues and mark their presence.
