Srinagar: Terrorists shot dead a woman and injured her minor nephew at her home in Budgam district on Wednesday, police said.
The woman was identified as Amreen Bhat, they said.
According to reports Amreen Bhat was a television artist.
“At around 1955 hrs, terrorists fired upon one lady Amreen Bhat, daughter of Khazir Mohd Bhat, resident of Hushroo Chadoora at her home. She was shifted to hospital in injured condition where doctors declared her dead,” Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.
The police said Bhat’s 10-year-old nephew, who was also at home at the time of the incident, sustained a bullet injury in his arm. Both were immediately evacuated to nearby hospital for the treatment, however the lady was declared brought dead. While as the condition of the boy who has received bullet injury on his arm is stated to be stable.
Police said that three terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT were involved in this heinous terror incident. The whole area has been cordoned off and search operation is in progress.
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law.
Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime.
