JAMMU: University of Jammu (JU) won the opening match of the 12th Vice Chancellor’s (VC) Cup Twenty20 Tournament, organised by the Mumbai University.
As per the reports reaching here, JU defeated Kohlapur University by six wickets.
Batting first, Kohlapur made 117 runs losing all their wickets. Ramesh (24), Vishwanath (23) and Rajesh (19) were the main scorers. For JU, Pawan, Sandeep and Raj Kumar took two wickets each. Daud and Rajesh shared apiece each.
In reply, JU chased the target of 118 runs for the loss of four wickets in just 12.5 overs. Raj Kumar played match winning knock of unbeaten 62 while Vishal contributed 37 runs.
Later, Raj Kumar was declared man of the match for his superb innings. Now, in the second round of the competition, JU shall take on Ajmer Board on Thursday.
